This was me trying to read the umpteenth sex scene in this book: Her mother pushed her around. The main topic of conversation at the parties is the secret identity of Lady Whistledown. And then there is the climax when Cressida blackmails Penelope because she somehow magically figured out that Penelope is Lady W. I could have lived with this revelation although I was annoyed that Quinn kept the reader in the dark via artificial means, by simply never having Penelope think about it.

I liked this the first time I read it, but it was never my favorite of the bunch unlike a lot of fans. Between precious Bridgertons’ moments, falling in love and magical dances, the Author felt calm. Colin was self-satisfied but insecure. But I loved Penelope.
