Jul 24, Ali rated it really liked it. He does go into a bit of detail here too but not as much as some of his other works. Khushwant recounts all these through his eyes and he does not round off the edges of his words which are decisive and sharp enough to cut. And, for the first time, about his successes and failures, his strengths and weaknesses, khusuwant highs and lows. Your Mobile has been activated successfully. An agnostic who s well-versed in the holy scriptures; a vocal champion of free speech who supported the Emergency; a dirty old man who sees the world in a grain of sand and beauty in a wild flower.
Personally, I think that is a huge loss for we kgushwant out on a great deal of experiences that these people have been through. Having sex is all that matters! A Long Dream of Home. He writes on happiness, faith and honesty. Somewhat rambling and often contradictory what’s admirable is how progressive and liberal-minded he’s absolhte been in his thinking – even ahead of his time – especially surrounded by the buffoons of his time and place — who unfortunately still rule the roost in India.
In this book he quotes some wonderful couplets.
There are khusnwant from Urdu poetry scattered among the pages and they are quite beautiful to behold. No book can teach you better in all aspects of life.
Should be skipped if you’re not a fan of him. A simple book of pages, it appears to have been dictated by 95 year old Khushwant Singh to Humra Quraishi over a few days.
